Japanese Ambassador and Fellow Nationals Praise the Wines and Beauty of Castel Mimi During Their Visit

Castel Mimi hosted a group of tourists and businesspeople from Japan who showed interest in Moldovan wines. The guests learned about the castle’s history and explored wine cellars that are over 130 years old.

They also viewed the presidential wine collection of world leaders who attended the EPC Summit on June 1, 2023.

Among the visitors was the Ambassador of Japan to Moldova, YAMADA Yoichiro, a frequent guest at Castel Mimi.

“I’ve been here countless times—maybe even 10. It’s always a great pleasure; this place is beautiful. The building is stunning, as well as the backdrop. Organizers run events here with exceptional skill. I savor every moment when I visit,” stated YAMADA Yoichiro, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Moldova.

His Excellency praised Moldovan wines as the best in the world and often recommended them to his friends abroad.

“Moldovan wine is the best in the world, and I’m not exaggerating. I’ve never been disappointed by Moldovan wine, whereas in other countries, I’ve had plenty of disappointing experiences. I have many friends in Italy and France—big wine-producing nations—and I tell them: try Moldovan wines because I believe they have the best wine in the world.”

The Japanese delegation included importers and distributors of Moldovan wines for the Japanese market, who increase their imports to the Land of the Rising Sun each year.

“French, Italian, Spanish wines? No! Romanian and Moldovan wines are the best. The Japanese prefer sparkling wine, and now that it’s summer—rosé and white wine.”

“I run a wine distribution shop in Tokyo, Japan’s capital, where we stock over 10 Moldovan wines. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to visit your country. I’m confident this visit will help us continue promoting Moldovan wine in Japan.”

The Japanese delegation’s visit to Castel Mimi ended with a refined dinner and live pan flute music performed by maestro Constantin Moscovici.
