Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov Thanks Poland for Supporting Moldova During EU Council Presidency

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, expressed her gratitude to Poland as its presidency of the Council of the European Union concludes. Gherasimov specifically thanked Ambassador Agnieszka Bartol, Poland’s Permanent Representative to the EU, and the Polish authorities for their consistent support of Moldova’s European integration efforts over the past six months.

Gherasimov highlighted the significant progress Moldova achieved during the Polish presidency.

“During this period, we advanced in the screening process (reviewing national legislation against EU standards), completed procedures to adopt the Growth Plan, made progress in the field of security, joined the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), and implemented meaningful transformations across the country,” she stated.

The Polish Presidency, which ends on Monday, June 30, 2025, focused heavily on security and defense, prioritizing these topics over other areas like migration and EU enlargement. Under the slogan “Security, Europe!” Poland capitalized on the tense geopolitical environment and the temporary weakening of France and Germany’s roles—both affected by internal political crises—to assert itself as a regional power and a key actor in EU decision-making.

Gherasimov’s message underscored the importance of continued Polish support as Moldova prepares for the next stage of EU accession negotiations.
