Beginning July 1, 2025, the retirement age for women in Moldova will increase by six months, reaching 61 years and 6 months. The required full contribution period remains 34 years, the same as for men.
Viorica Tugulschii, head of the General Directorate of Pensions and Allowances at the National House of Social Insurance, explained to IPN that individuals who do not meet the full contribution period will receive a proportional pension. Those who have contributed less than 15 years will not qualify for a pension but may receive a social allowance for the elderly, equal to 50% of the minimum guaranteed pension.
Early Retirement for Long Careers
The law allows early retirement for individuals with extended contribution periods:
- Men with at least 39 years of contributions (5 years more than required)
- Women with at least 37 years of contributions (3 years more than required)

Pension Reassessment
Retirees can request a pension reassessment if they continue working after receiving or recalculating their old-age pension:
- Starting January 1, 2024, retirees may apply for reassessment every two years, provided it results in a higher pension.
- Starting January 1, 2025, this right will extend to disability pension recipients.
Pension Increases
- As of April 1, 2025, the minimum pension for a full contribution period increased to 3,055 lei, following a 10% indexation.
- As of May 1, 2025, individuals with at least 40 years of contributions qualify for a minimum pension of 3,300 lei.
