Moldova Sets New Record for Renewable Energy Production

On June 29, the Republic of Moldova set a new benchmark in renewable energy, with domestic renewable sources covering over 48% of the country’s total electricity consumption. At peak moments during the day, renewable generation supplied more than 82% of the electricity consumed, according to the Ministry of Energy.

The Ministry credited this achievement to the continued expansion of renewable energy capacity, reduced electricity consumption during the holiday period, and favorable weather conditions.

For comparison, in April, renewable sources met 36% of electricity demand, while in March, they covered around 23%.
