Travel Alert in Bulgaria: Restrictions on the Giurgiu–Ruse Bridge Starting July 4, 2025

Starting Friday, July 4, 2025, authorities will impose traffic restrictions on DN5 in the Giurgiu–Ruse Bridge area between 10:00 and 20:00. Authorities are implementing these measures due to high temperatures and to protect the bridge’s structure, announced the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Bulgaria.

“Authorities will apply restrictions on National Road 5 (DN5) in Romania, on the section between kilometer 63+715 and kilometer 64+884, which includes the bridge between Giurgiu and Ruse.

They are taking this measure to prevent overloading the bridge road structure, as high summer temperatures can affect its strength. During the restrictions, vehicles must stop on DN5 before entering the bridge,” the embassy’s message states.

Traffic controllers will manage vehicle access at both ends of the bridge, following the traffic lights set by the Bulgarian authorities. Their goal is to prevent congestion and ensure that vehicles don’t stop on the bridge.
