The Chisinau International Airport (CIA) reported a substantial surge in passenger traffic in June 2025, reflecting the robust momentum of the summer travel season. A total of 620,675 passengers traveled through the airport, 103.4% of the estimated forecast and a 39.7% increase compared to the same month in 2024.
According to the CIA, the airport registered 4,560 aircraft movements (landings and takeoffs), while the volume of transported cargo reached 196.1 tons.

New Routes Gaining Momentum
Newly launched routes in June 2025 accounted for 43,477 passengers, or 7% of total traffic. These destinations include:
Katowice, Dortmund, Alicante, Memmingen, Abu Dhabi, Palma de Mallorca, Nuremberg, Brussels (Charleroi), Thessaloniki, El Dabaa, Bremen, Manchester, Turin, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Lyon.
“This increase in air traffic highlights travelers’ growing interest in direct connections to major European cities and strengthens Chisinau International Airport’s role as a key regional hub. We thank our passengers and partners for their trust and remain committed to expanding our route network and services,” said airport authorities.
Strategic Growth
Chisinau International Airport now ranks among the top-performing European airports in the 1–10 million passengers per year category. Its continued growth is driven by a strategic expansion of routes and a rising number of airline operators, which grew from 20 in 2022 to 33 in 2024.
