President Maia Sandu has revoked the Moldovan citizenship of five men who served in the Russian armed forces. Born between 1974 and 1986 in the territory of present-day Moldova, the individuals joined an illegal Russian military unit based in the Transnistrian region.
The presidential decree, dated July 16, followed a procedure initiated by the Public Services Agency (ASP) after receiving a notification from the Information and Security Service (SIS), according to representatives of the Presidential Administration.
Meanwhile, on July 17, the president signed another decree restoring Moldovan citizenship to 20 individuals. These include people born in Moldova or abroad, with some of their children.
