Deputy PM Cristina Gherasimov Discusses EU Accession Reforms During Official Visit to Lithuania

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov visited Vilnius on July 30–31 to discuss Moldova’s progress on its path toward European Union membership and to strengthen bilateral relations with Lithuania.

During her visit, Gherasimov met with several members of the Lithuanian Seimas, including Remigijus Motuzas, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee; Tomas Tomilinas, Deputy Chairman of the European Affairs Committee; and Kazys Starkevicius, Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Republic of Moldova.

“We exchanged views on the latest developments on the Republic of Moldova’s European agenda and discussed the reforms being implemented in Chisinau to prepare for the next stage in the EU accession negotiations. I thanked the Lithuanian parliamentarians for their continued support and active engagement in our European integration efforts,” Gherasimov stated.

In addition, Gherasimov held a meeting with Sigitas Mitkus, Lithuania’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and representative in the EU General Affairs Council. Their discussions focused on regional security and the future expansion of the European Union.

The Deputy Prime Minister’s visit to Vilnius is part of ongoing efforts to consolidate Moldova’s partnerships within the EU and to reinforce Lithuania’s political support for the country’s European integration process.
