The Greek Ministry of Justice has officially notified Moldovan authorities that it has received the extradition file for former Democratic Party leader Vlad Plahotniuc. The information was confirmed to Realitatea by Violina Moraru, spokesperson for the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Moraru stated that the Greek authorities acknowledged receipt of the electronic set of extradition documents, and Moldovan officials were notified on July 25. That same day, the documents were also delivered via diplomatic channels to Greece’s Ministry of Justice, by international legal procedures.
“The Prosecutor’s Office will not comment on speculation and baseless statements that aim to distort the reality of the ongoing process and misinform the public,” the Office of the Prosecutor General added in a statement.

The clarification comes in response to recent claims made by Vlad Plahotniuc’s lawyer, Lucian Rogac, who accused Moldovan authorities of deliberately delaying the extradition process. Rogac said that under Greek law, the procedure could take up to 30 days to complete.
