Moldova and Greece Discuss Energy Cooperation and European Integration

Deepening bilateral relations and enhancing economic and investment cooperation were at the core of discussions between Oleg Tulea, Ambassador with Special Missions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, and Harry Theoharis, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, during the latter’s working visit to Chisinau.

Ambassador Tulea highlighted Greece’s key role in strengthening Moldova’s energy security, particularly through joint initiatives in natural gas, renewable energy, and supporting infrastructure. He also underlined Moldova’s interest in intensifying bilateral trade, attracting Greek investment, and expanding cooperation in key sectors such as IT, energy, tourism, transport, and education, according to a press release from the Moldovan Foreign Ministry.

Deputy Minister Theoharis welcomed the substantial progress Moldova has made in implementing reforms and reaffirmed Greece’s steadfast support for Moldova’s European integration efforts. He also expressed readiness to share Greece’s experience in areas critical to the EU accession process, including economic governance, institutional development, and alignment with EU legislation and standards.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a structured and high-level political dialogue, with a shared goal of strengthening Moldovan–Greek relations in the context of European integration. They also agreed to organize a Moldovan-Greek Economic Forum and to facilitate direct contact between the business communities of the two countries.
