The number of foreign companies registered in the Republic of Moldova has surged significantly in recent years, according to data presented by the Ministry of Economy based on records from the Public Services Agency, bani.md reports.
Between 2021 and 2024, a total of 2,109 foreign-capital companies were established in Moldova. It marks a sixfold increase compared to the period 2016 – 2020, when only 352 such companies were registered, according to an analysis of the State Register of Legal Entities.
The growth trend has been consistent over the past four years:
- 2021: 391 companies
- 2022: 540 companies
- 2023: 557 companies
- 2024: 621 companies

In contrast, annual figures from 2016 to 2020 remained modest:
- 2016: 76 companies
- 2017: 68 companies
- 2018: 68 companies
- 2019: 62 companies
- 2020: 78 companies
The Ministry of Economy notes that most shareholders in the newly registered companies originate from European Union member states, followed by Ukraine, Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, and Switzerland.
Moldova has also attracted foreign investment from more geographically distant countries such as Canada, Australia, Japan, Georgia, India, China, South Korea, and Mexico, reflecting growing global interest in the Moldovan business environment.
