Moldova will mark its Independence Day at the country’s pavilion at the World Expo in Osaka, Japan, which runs from April 13 to October 13, 2025. Hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world have already explored Moldova’s culture, traditions, and innovations at the pavilion.
Government spokesperson Daniel Voda announced that the celebrations will take place on August 31, coinciding with Romanian Language Day.
“Moldova is preparing to showcase itself on the international stage at the World Expo in Osaka. On August 31, Moldova’s Day will highlight our culture, innovations, and opportunities for economic partnerships. We are also organizing events with the Moldovan diaspora in Japan to promote our country’s profile in the Land of the Rising Sun,” Voda said.
He added that the pavilion has drawn significant international attention:
“In the first months after opening, hundreds of thousands of visitors have explored Moldova’s national pavilion, discovering our cultural heritage, traditions, and innovative achievements.”
Titled Designing the Future Society for Our Lives, Expo Osaka presents ideas and projects with the potential to transform the world. Moldova’s pavilion combines authentic cultural heritage with forward-looking perspectives. Visitors can experience traditional crafts, modern technologies, and innovative products, and interact with exhibits that showcase Moldova as a friendly, open, and future-oriented country.

The pavilion also offers immersive experiences: visitors can taste local wines and traditional dishes at Casa Mare, try on traditional costumes, listen to folk music, explore tourist destinations through virtual experiences, and learn about investment opportunities.
Moldova’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka aims to strengthen its international presence, expand collaboration networks, and promote national culture. Over 160 countries are participating, and the organizers expect about 28 million visitors over six months.
