Ukraine has no intention of ceding territory to Russia, and Kiev will not accept any discussions suggesting otherwise, Ukrainian Ambassador to Chisinau Paun Rahovei stated. “Ukraine is an indivisible, sovereign, and integral state,” Rahovei said during the “Realitatea te priveste” program on RLIVE TV, responding to questions about potential Russian demands amid peace negotiations involving the United States.
Rahovei emphasized that the Ukrainian people alone determine their future and seek a lasting, just peace. “I don’t like the word ‘negotiation’ when it comes to dignity or principle. The Ukrainian Constitution clearly stipulates that Ukraine is indivisible, sovereign, and its territorial integrity is sacred,” he said. The ambassador criticized Russia for disregarding international law, noting that Moscow has suspended itself from global rules and norms.
He added that the barbaric Russian regime seeks not only to destroy Ukraine as a country but to annihilate its people. “This war did not start in 2022; it began in 2014 with the forced annexation of Crimea and parts of Donetsk and Luhansk. In February 2022, Russia launched a large-scale invasion, a brutal war aimed at exterminating an entire nation,” Rahovei said.

Regarding peace efforts, Rahovei stressed that any solution must involve Ukraine as a subject of international law. “All diplomatic steps with our Western partners, primarily the United States, aim to create conditions to compel Putin to end this war,” he said.
The remarks came after reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin requested Ukraine to cede the entire Donbas region, remain neutral, forgo NATO membership, and bar Western troops. Kyiv reportedly rejected these demands, viewing them as equivalent to surrender.
