False information has recently resurfaced on social media, alleging that British soldiers were deployed to the border with the Transnistrian region and that over 800 NATO troops arrived in Moldova after the elections. The Ministry of Defense categorically rejected these claims, stressing that they have no real basis and are lies, IPN reports.
Authorities underlined that this is not the first time such fabricated scenarios have circulated on platforms like Telegram and TikTok, alongside other false narratives about the so-called militarization of the country. The goal of these actions is to spread fear and hostility.
The Ministry of Defense explained that these messages form part of the hybrid war waged by the Russian Federation against Moldova, aimed at undermining the country’s European path. The ministry urged citizens to seek information only from official and credible sources and to remain vigilant against online manipulations.
