The largest barrel in the world stands in the village of Scoreni, Straseni district. Famous for its potters, the village has turned the construction into a true tourist attraction.
Mayor Svetalana Tabacari explained that the idea of building the barrel emerged after several young people from Chisinau visited Scoreni as part of a project. They discovered the many pottery craftsmen in the village and proposed the construction. Local craftsmen carried out the works, and the barrel quickly attracted visitors from across Moldova and beyond.
“If we could fill the barrel in Scoreni with wine, we would need 240,000 liters. We would gather all the grapes from Scoreni and still need grapes from a few neighboring villages,” the mayor said.

Villagers proudly noted that a museum shaped like a piece of pottery will soon open in Scoreni. They added that the work was not difficult because they found it exciting to take part in the project.
