The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), Anca Dragu, met with Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST) at the European Commission, during the Vienna Initiative Forum 2025 in Brussels.
Talks focused on strengthening cooperation between Moldova and European institutions, particularly in the areas of economic development, alignment with EU financial standards, integration into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), and implementation of European recommendations. The discussions also covered the country’s growth plan and the program supported by the International Monetary Fund.
“The National Bank of Moldova remains fully committed to the process of European financial integration, through consistent reforms and the strengthening of financial sector stability. The Republic of Moldova will soon become an operational part of SEPA – a historic moment that will bring direct benefits to citizens and businesses, with faster, safer, and cheaper payments,” Dragu emphasized.

The meeting is part of a series of high-level exchanges reaffirming Moldova’s determination to advance reforms, consolidate financial stability, and accelerate integration into the European single market.
The Vienna Initiative Forum, held on September 29–30, gathered central bank governors, policymakers, and international experts to discuss financial stability and capital market integration in emerging economies.
