Starting Tuesday, October 8, the village of Varnita, located in the Security Zone, is experiencing temporary power outages caused by the gas-saving regime introduced on October 2 in the Transnistrian region.
According to Zona de Securitate, the energy deficit on the left bank of the Dniester, from where Varnita receives its electricity supply, has affected several streets in the locality.
Power outage schedule:
Wednesday, October 8 (08:00–17:00)
- Tatarbunar Street, no. 1–9, 2–20
- Comsomolului Street, no. 3–7, 4
- Ceaikovski Street, no. 21–23
Thursday, October 9 (08:00–17:00)
- Transnistreana Street, no. 1–9, 2–10
- Ceaikovski Street, no. 11–19
Local authorities warn that if the gas supply situation does not stabilize, power outages could continue in the coming days.
Earlier this year, in January–February 2025, several localities in the Security Zone faced a similar energy crisis due to restrictions imposed by the Transnistrian administration. Following those events, measures were taken to connect affected localities to alternative electricity and gas supply sources.
Although Varnita has since been partially connected to the national power grid, it remains unclear why the locality is again facing outages. Authorities are expected to provide further explanations soon.
Officials from the left bank of the Dniester recently announced that the gas-saving regime would remain in effect for around one and a half weeks, citing “unfavorable external circumstances” as the cause.
