The Monument of Stephen the Great, located in the heart of Chisinau, stands as one of the most iconic symbols of the Republic of Moldova.

Sculptor Alexandru Plamadeala created the statue between 1925 and 1928, depicting the great ruler in an imposing posture, holding a sword that symbolizes his strength and courage. Generations of Moldovans have regarded Stephen the Great as a symbol of resistance and national sovereignty.

For decades, people have chosen the monument as a favorite meeting place — for friends, couples, and citizens who wish to connect in the city’s historical center.

Realitatea Media Group now continues this spirit of unity through its campaign “Moldova That Unites Us.” The initiative tells the stories of Moldovans who made history and brought pride to the nation, captures the voices of citizens met on the streets, shares updates on social and political life, and highlights the symbols Moldovans carry with them — whether in their hearts or their suitcases — from Lisbon to New York.
