European Parliament President Roberta Metsola will deliver a speech in the plenary session of Moldova’s Parliament during her visit to Chisinau on November 6–7, Speaker Igor Grosu announced on the Moldova 1 program “In context.”

According to Grosu, Moldovan authorities aim to open EU accession negotiation chapters as soon as possible.

“We want it to happen quickly. Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos has already stated that the Republic of Moldova is ready for all six chapters. A solution is being sought — consensus among EU member states is needed. We believe it would be fair to start the process at the same time as our Ukrainian neighbors. A solution is being looked for, and we hope it will be found soon,” Grosu said.

He added that during Metsola’s visit, discussions will focus on the next steps toward officially launching accession negotiations.

“We’ll host Roberta Metsola in Parliament, where she will certainly deliver a speech before the plenary. Naturally, we’ll also discuss the next stages of Moldova’s European integration,” he noted.

Earlier, Victor Negrescu, Vice-President of the European Parliament responsible for relations with Moldova, confirmed Metsola’s planned visit, noting that she would be accompanied by a delegation.

The Republic of Moldova completed the bilateral screening process in Brussels on September 22, 2025. During this phase, national experts analyzed over 100,000 pages of domestic legislation to ensure alignment with EU law.

The completion of bilateral screening marks a key milestone in Moldova’s European integration journey, following its EU candidate status granted in June 2022.
