Russia’s Human Rights Commissioner Tatiana Moskalkova met with the so-called Transnistrian Ombudsman Veaceslav Kosinski during the Eurasian Alliance gathering. The Russian official wrote on her Telegram channel that the talks focused on alleged violations of freedom of movement affecting residents from the left bank of the Dniester River.

Moskalkova stated that she and Kosinski agreed to use additional mechanisms to “protect the rights of residents in the separatist region,” including Russian citizens.

“We discussed problematic issues, including the restrictions imposed by the Republic of Moldova on the right to free movement of citizens from our countries. We agreed to expand instruments for human rights protection, in order to defend Transnistrian citizens and Russian compatriots,” Moskalkova wrote.

Authorities in Chisinau have not yet commented on Moskalkova’s statements.

Realitatea has requested a response from the Bureau for Reintegration Policies regarding the matter.
