“The government does not promise overnight miracles — and it fully understands the situation we are in,” declared Doina Gherman, leader of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), following the parliamentary session in which the Cabinet formed by Alexandru Munteanu requested a vote of confidence. The Vice President of Parliament referred to Moldova’s ongoing process of European Union accession.

Gherman highlighted that the government led by Dorin Recean had successfully managed multiple crises, challenges, and external pressures. She thanked the outgoing prime minister and his team for their service.

“The Munteanu Government — the government assumed by PAS — must deliver the results that will allow us to accelerate the accession process. I firmly believe that the Munteanu Cabinet can handle this mission, one that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova have expressed not once, but three times over the past two years,” Gherman said.

She recalled that citizens reaffirmed their European choice:

  1. In the national constitutional referendum, which enshrined Moldova’s irreversible European path in the Constitution;
  2. In the presidential elections, when President Maia Sandu was re-elected by direct popular vote — the first time in Moldova’s history. Gherman praised Sandu as “a leader with a clear pro-European vision, respected worldwide, who can open any door in any European office — and beyond,” adding that the President will be the one “to bring and sign Moldova’s EU accession treaty.”
  3. In the parliamentary elections, when more than half of voters supported the European course.

“I truly hope that politicians in this chamber, colleagues from other factions and parties, understand that one cannot go against their own people,” concluded Gherman.

On Friday, October 31, Parliament heard the government program of the Cabinet formed by Alexandru Munteanu, nominated for prime minister by the Party of Action and Solidarity.
