Authorities in Moldova are discussing solutions with the EU and the US for the reintegration of Transnistria. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu made the statement in Brussels, where the European Union Enlargement Forum is taking place. Journalists asked the Prime Minister about the potential withdrawal of Russian troops from the left side of the Dniester River. Munteanu mentioned that there are potential scenarios, but he did not disclose any further details.

“We are currently discussing a plan for the reintegration of the Transnistrian region with our European and American partners. I cannot give details at this time, but such a plan is being discussed,” emphasized the Prime Minister.

Currently, about 1,000 Russian soldiers are illegally stationed on the left side of the Dniester River in the Republic of Moldova, and an ammunition depot in Cobasna remains in the region from the 1992 war. In the government program of the Munteanu Cabinet, the Executive states that, regarding Transnistria, it intends to transform the joint peacekeeping forces into an international civilian mission.
