A total of 35 individuals are being prosecuted for preparing mass disturbances and disorders in Moldova. According to the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), an organized group has allegedly acted since last July with direct intent and in exchange for financial benefits to carry out large-scale illegal activities under the supervision of foreign instructors at a camp in Banja Koviljaca, Serbia.

“The group allegedly aimed to create a climate of social tension and to trigger violent protests that would affect public order and the safety of Moldovan citizens,” the IGP stated.

After gathering evidence, law-enforcement officers conducted more than 50 searches today targeting the 35 individuals, aged between 21 and 54, from Chisinau and the districts of Stefan Voda, Soldanesti, Telenesti, Soroca, Drochia, Straseni, Ialoveni, Hincesti, Orhei, and Ceadir-Lunga.

During the raids, officers seized mobile phones containing relevant information, SIM cards, bank cards—including some issued by financial institutions in the Russian Federation—foreign currency such as 3,350 dinars, more than 20 biometric passports with stamps showing border crossings to Serbia, radio stations, a pair of binoculars, a replica AK assault rifle, and cartridges of various calibers for lethal and non-lethal weapons, along with other evidence.

Law-enforcement bodies continue investigating in order to establish all the circumstances of the case.
