Alexandru Paraschiv has become the first Moldovan boxer to win a bronze medal at the World Boxing Championships for seniors. He reached the semifinals of this year’s edition, where he faced Uzbek boxer Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC), two other Moldovan athletes — Vasile Cebotari from Tiraspol and Andrei Zaplitnii from Grimancauti — finished fifth in their weight categories.

Eight Moldovan boxers represented the Republic of Moldova at the championships, and the MEC financially supported their participation in the competition held in the United Arab Emirates.
