The PAS deputy Marcel Spatari stated that Moldova and Ukraine do not officially link their European Union accession processes, and each country advances at its own pace.

He explained that the two states do not participate in the same working meetings and show different levels of progress. Spatari noted that although Moldova became a candidate country against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, EU accession depends on merit.

“The process depends on how quickly each country implements reforms and aligns with European rules. No regulation obliges Moldova and Ukraine to move at the same pace,” Spatari said.

He added that Moldova has advanced faster in certain chapters, bringing it closer to European Union standards than other candidate countries.
