Transport operators using paid permits to travel through Hungary will pay higher fees starting January 1, 2026. The new tariffs apply to international road freight transport and vary according to the type of permit and the vehicle’s total weight, IPN reports.

For bilateral transport, trucks or vehicle combinations weighing more than 12 tonnes will pay 32,000 forints for a round trip, equivalent to about 1,630 lei. Vehicles weighing up to 12 tonnes will pay 10,000 forints, or around 510 lei, for both trips.

The new rates also apply to transit transport and transport to or from third countries. Vehicles with a total weight of up to 12 tonnes will pay 22,000 forints, approximately 1,120 lei, while those exceeding 12 tonnes will pay 65,000 forints, or about 3,310 lei, for a round trip.

The National Agency for Road Transport stated that the Hungarian authorities adjusted the tariffs based on an inflation-linked calculation method.
