Exports from economic agents in the Transnistrian region to European Union (EU) member states accounted for 71 percent of total external deliveries in 2025, the Bureau for Reintegration Policies reported.

Although the share of exports to the EU remains high, it decreased compared to previous years. In 2023, exports to the EU reached 83 percent, while in 2024 they stood at around 75 percent. In 2019, only 49 percent of the region’s exports were directed to EU countries.

Medium-term trends show a growing presence on the EU market. The share of exports rose from 58–60 percent in 2020–2021 to 65 percent in 2022, peaked in 2023, and then adjusted in 2024 and 2025.

Imports from the EU accounted for 48 percent of total imports in 2025, slightly higher than 45 percent in 2024 but lower than 54 percent in 2023.

The main export destinations to the EU were Romania, Poland, and Italy. Authorities issued 3,894 certificates of origin during the year, including 2,099 confirming the preferential origin of goods traded with EU member states.

Officials note that using nationally issued documents and conducting transactions through Customs Service–monitored control points has significantly deepened the economic integration of the Transnistrian region into the EU market and helped harmonize trade rules across the entire country.
