President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu inspected construction works at the new military unit in the commune of Bacioi. She said the project marks an important step toward improving living conditions and military training standards, which remained inadequate for many years.

In a Facebook post, Maia Sandu said the camp will offer modern accommodation and training conditions for Moldovan soldiers, in line with international best practices.

“Investments in defense are investments in peace, stability, and confidence that even in a complicated world we can take care of one another and fulfill our duty to the country with dignity,” the president said.

The military camp in Bacioi will host soldiers from the Stefan cel Mare 2nd Motorized Infantry Brigade, which currently operates in the Buiucani district of the capital. Public information shows that the unit ranks among the oldest in Chisinau, with some buildings more than a century old and no longer functional.

The Bacioi camp will become the first military facility built after the proclamation of independence and authorities plan to open it in 2027.
