Moldova and UNHCR Reaffirm Cooperation on Ukrainian Refugees and Integration Policies

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi met on Thursday with Katja Saha, Acting Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Republic of Moldova. They discussed cooperation in managing the situation of Ukrainian refugees and the transition toward sustainable integration policies.

Minister Popsoi reaffirmed the commitment of Moldovan authorities to ensure refugees access to protection, education, healthcare services, and integration into the labor market. He also expressed appreciation for UNHCR consistent support.

“With the support of international partners, Moldova has managed to cope with this crisis and move toward sustainable solutions,” Mihai Popsoi said.

Katja Saha reiterated UNHCR support for the efforts of Moldovan authorities, including in the context of Moldova European integration path.

The foreign minister welcomed the start of Katja Saha mandate and expressed the government openness to further strengthening cooperation with UNHCR for the benefit of refugees and host communities.
