Regional security, government priorities, and the deepening of Moldovan American cooperation were the main topics discussed at the meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Smith, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Moldova.
The prime minister thanked the United States for supporting the construction of the 400 kV Straseni Gutinas overhead power line and said the project will significantly strengthen Moldova energy security.
The U.S. official praised the progress made by the authorities in Chisinau in implementing reforms aimed at improving living standards and reaffirmed Washington openness to expanding exports of Moldovan products to the U.S. market.
The sides also discussed the reconstruction of Ukraine, with the Republic of Moldova expressing its readiness to contribute as a logistical and economic corridor.
