A three-year-old girl from Ukraine was abducted in October 2025 by her father and forcibly brought to Moldova amid divorce proceedings between the parents. The father took the child from a playground in Ukraine and illegally removed her from the country.
Ukrainian authorities reported the girl missing and launched international search procedures. After conducting investigative measures, officers from the Southern Regional Directorate of the General Inspectorate for Migration located the child in the municipality of Cahul, in the Republic of Moldova.
Authorities reunited the girl with her mother, who traveled to Moldova to take her home.
Law enforcement officers detained the 43-year-old father, who had been placed on an international wanted list and faces charges of child abduction.
