Around 30 citizens of the Republic of Moldova were safely evacuated from the Middle East on March 9 via the Muscat – Bucharest route through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism and its rescEU component. The information comes from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova in its latest update on the situation of Moldovan citizens in the region.

According to the authorities, no victims or injured persons among Moldovan citizens have been reported in Middle Eastern countries.

The ministry said Moldova’s embassies remain in direct contact with citizens in the region and continue to provide consular assistance depending on the requests received.

In Israel, the security situation remains tense, and restrictions imposed by local authorities have been extended until March 14, 2026, at 20:00. During this period, educational activities remain suspended, and public gatherings are limited to a maximum of 50 people, provided there is a nearby shelter in case of an alarm.

Commercial flights continue to operate on a limited basis, depending on the decisions of Israeli authorities and airline schedules.

In the United Arab Emirates, the general situation remains largely unchanged, with public services and infrastructure functioning normally. The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Abu Dhabi continues to assist citizens affected by disruptions in air transport and to identify available travel options.

In Qatar, the situation remains complex, and the airspace is only partially reopened, with limited flight operations. Local authorities recommend avoiding non essential travel and following official instructions.

Meanwhile, airports in Turkey continue to operate commercial flights normally, and the country remains an important transit point for people leaving the region.

At the same time, the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Baku is monitoring security developments in Iran, as transit options for people wishing to leave the country remain limited.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Moldovan citizens in the region to avoid non essential travel, follow the instructions of local authorities, check flight status directly with airlines, and stay in contact with Moldova’s diplomatic missions.
