Police and prosecutors in the Botanica sector dismantled a fraud scheme that caused an estimated loss of over 10 million lei. According to the National Police of Moldova, a 33-year-old man from Chisinau allegedly carried out the scheme during 2024–2025.
The suspect reportedly convinced several economic agents to invest in supposedly profitable business ventures but failed to fulfill his obligations and appropriated the funds and assets.
“Following procedural and criminal actions, special investigative measures, and searches, the suspect has been documented. Drafts, documents, and other evidence relevant to the criminal case were found at his residence. The man is currently under criminal investigation,” the police stated.
If convicted, the man faces up to 15 years in prison. Investigators continue working to determine all circumstances of the case and recover the damages caused.
