Protesters from the National Alternative Movement (MAN) attempted to reach the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova on Thursday morning to demonstrate against high fuel prices. Carabinieri briefly stopped them.

Ion Ceban criticized the authorities’ actions, stating:

“People from the Party of Action and Solidarity storm offices at City Hall. At Parliament, authorities do not even allow citizens to reach the stairs. Citizens have the right to stand in front of Parliament because they voted for representatives who must listen to their problems. The MAN protests against fuel prices that nearly doubled, and further increases are expected. The MAN presented clear proposals to improve the situation, but the government continues to profit at the expense of the people.”

Despite the restrictions, the MAN representatives gathered in front of the Parliament building and chanted slogans such as: “The country is burdened with problems, the PAS focuses only on schemes” and “People pay for the crisis, the PAS only comments on it.”
