The driver involved in the road accident on Grigore Vieru Boulevard in Chisinau has been placed in pre-trial detention for 30 days, after the court approved the request submitted by the police.
The 35-year-old woman injured in the crash remains in extremely serious condition, according to Dorina Arsene, press officer of the Institute of Emergency Medicine, in a statement for Realitatea.
“The patient’s condition remains extremely serious. She is hospitalized in the intensive care unit—neuroreanimation—and continues treatment and monitoring under the supervision of neurosurgeons,” Arsene stated.
The accident occurred on April 11, when a 45-year-old man driving a Xiaomi vehicle struck the woman and her 7-year-old daughter while they were crossing the street legally. The driver was reportedly traveling in a lane designated for public transport.
Both victims were transported to the hospital for medical care. The driver was tested for alcohol, and results showed he was not intoxicated.
