Lilian Carp said the drone found on the roof of a building in central Chisinau was a reconnaissance device. As head of Parliament’s Committee on Security, Defense and Public Order, he told Moldova 1 that the Army’s current radar systems did not detect it because they cannot identify such aircraft at low altitudes.
He added that authorities are currently installing equipment capable of detecting such flying devices and expect it to become operational within the next few months.
“The new radar, which is currently being installed and is expected to be operational in the coming months, will detect objects at much lower altitudes, including their launch point. That is why I reiterate that investments in the army are necessary to provide security for our citizens,” Lilian Carp said.
A drone landed on the roof of a residential building in the Telecentru district of the capital on the night of April 27–28. Residents said they did not hear the moment it landed.
