The Republic of Moldova is making notable progress on its path toward European integration, with success largely dependent on reforms, the rule of law, and the fight against corruption.

In an interview for IPN, former President of the European Council Charles Michel said that granting EU candidate status to Moldova—alongside Ukraine—was a strategic decision aimed at strengthening peace, democracy, and prosperity across Europe.

He emphasized that the reforms already implemented, along with planned investments, are creating real opportunities for citizens and contributing to the country’s economic development.

Charles Michel visited Chisinau on April 29–30, where he participated in the civic dialogue and mobilization platform Reinvent Moldova 2.0, organized by the Realitatea Media Group.

During the event, Michel advised authorities in Chisinau to focus on implementing reforms rather than spending time on debates about a possible decoupling of Moldova from Ukraine in the European Union accession process.
