Children with disabilities in the Republic of Moldova will receive annual financial support of 3,000 lei starting in 2026, with payments scheduled for June. Authorities included this measure in a new legislative initiative.

MP Ludmila Adamciuc from the Party of Action and Solidarity said the initiative recognizes the efforts made by families raising children with disabilities and sends a clear message that the state stands by them.

“June 1 is associated with childhood, play, and joy, but it is also about the right of all children to harmonious development and equal opportunities. For children with disabilities, access to opportunities that others take for granted and the path to an independent life are much more difficult,” Adamciuc said during a press briefing on May 6.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection Natalia Plugaru explained that the project introduces an annual payment for all children with disabilities, regardless of the severity of their condition.

“This payment provides universal support for all families raising children with disabilities, regardless of where they live or their social situation. We designed a simple, clear, and accessible mechanism—without unnecessary procedures, without bureaucracy, and without the need to submit any application. Authorities will grant the payment proactively, automatically, ex officio,” the minister stated.

According to official data, 13,852 children with various forms of disabilities live in the Republic of Moldova.
