Following the scandals involving Dumitru Vartic and Dorian Muntean, membership in the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) will require recommendations from existing party members. Igor Grosu announced the measure and said the admission process would become “more laborious.”

“We condemn such actions and we will continue to condemn them and act firmly every time, including through expulsion from the party. We need to analyze this issue. We are also considering other ways to protect the party so that such individuals do not enter it.

We also discussed the matter at the Permanent Bureau. We already have several proposals. We will introduce additional checks, such as recommendations. A person submitting an application will necessarily need recommendations from members who know them and who have seen them in activity. The process will become more laborious,” Igor Grosu stated.

Authorities are investigating Dumitru Vartic on accusations of domestic violence after his wife allegedly fell from an upper floor of a building in Chisinau. The party expelled him, while Vartic denied the accusations that appeared in the public space.

Investigative journalists also reported that Dorian Muntean allegedly began a relationship with a 12-year-old minor while working as a traumatologist at a children’s hospital. Reports stated that a court convicted him in connection with the case, but that he continued to work at the medical institution afterward. Muntean has not publicly commented on the information published by investigative reporters.
