The launch of the “Vmeste” (“Together”) fund by the separatist administration in Tiraspol reflects “mismanagement” of the Transnistrian region and represents a new attempt at political manipulation, according to Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri. The statements appeared in the context of an increasingly severe economic crisis on the left bank of the Nistru River, as reported by BANI.MD.
“This is the result of a defective administration of the region by a group of citizens who hold the inhabitants of this region, citizens of the Republic of Moldova, captive. We consider it primarily a political action intended to continue using manipulation and propaganda rhetoric, suggesting that the situation in the region results from external influence,” Chiveri said.
According to Chiveri, the “Vmeste” fund—created to collect money for pensions, salaries, and other social expenses—offers only a temporary and unsustainable solution. At the same time, he reaffirmed that Chisinau continues to offer the gradual reintegration of the Transnistrian region.
“Our offer remains valid: we support the gradual reintegration of the region, which would provide a way out of this situation. This process continues to gain increasing support from the majority of citizens,” he added.
The separatist administration in Tiraspol launched the fund on May 11 amid a growing budget deficit and financial difficulties in the region. The holding company Sheriff announced a donation of 100 million Transnistrian rubles (about €5.7 million) to the fund.
Sheriff, controlled by businessman Victor Gusan, dominates the region’s economy, operating in retail, telecommunications, fuel, banking, media, and sports. Observers often describe the group as a “state within a state” in the breakaway region.
