Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu reacted after a drone struck a residential building in Galati, Romania. The officials condemned the incident as a serious and unacceptable act and expressed solidarity with those affected.
“We strongly condemn the irresponsible actions that led to a residential building in Galati being struck by a Russian drone. Our thoughts are with those affected, and we stand in solidarity with Romania.
This incident, which occurred just a short distance from the border of the Republic of Moldova, is a grim reminder that the risks created by Russia’s war are real and remain dangerously close to our region. We will continue to strengthen our resilience and cooperate closely with our European partners to protect peace, security, and stability,” Alexandru Munteanu stated.
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said the attack once again demonstrated that the war is not far away, but near Moldova’s border, endangering lives and threatening the security of Europe.
“We condemn in the strongest possible terms the Russian drone attack on the city of Galati in Romania. It is a serious and unacceptable act. Russia directly struck the territory of Romania, a neighboring state, a friend of the Republic of Moldova, and a close partner of our citizens. This attack reminds us once again that the war is not far away. It is at our border, endangers human lives, and threatens the security of all Europe. Russia does not bring peace, stability, or safety. Russia brings fear, destruction, and suffering.
We are in full solidarity with Romania, the Romanian authorities, and the residents of the city of Galati. Our thoughts are with those who suffered as a result of this attack. We wish them a speedy recovery and much strength,” Grosu said in a statement.
President Maia Sandu also condemned the Russian drone attacks that led to the incident in Romania, where a drone struck a residential building in Galati.
A drone crashed overnight from Thursday to Friday into a residential building in Galati, Romania, causing an explosion and a fire in an apartment on the 10th floor. Two people sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital, while two others required medical assistance after suffering panic attacks. Authorities evacuated more than 70 people from the building.
