The designated Prime Minister of Romania, Adrian Vestea, has presented the programme of the future Cabinet, which includes provisions on the Republic of Moldova and Romania’s regional policy priorities.

The programme confirms that Romania will continue to support Moldova’s EU integration process and will back efforts to strengthen the rule of law, political stability, and economic development in Chisinau.

It also sets out plans to deepen strategic interconnection between Romania and Moldova in the energy sector. The future government intends to expand energy links with neighbouring markets and strengthen electricity and natural gas connections with Moldova, including further market integration.

The document also frames Romania’s partnership with Ukraine as a strategic priority, stating that supporting Ukraine’s democratic resilience and integration into Western institutions contributes directly to Romania’s own security.

In the energy sector, the proposed Cabinet plans investments of about 2.5 billion lei in natural gas transport infrastructure and projects to modernise district heating systems in several Romanian cities.

Adrian Vestea submitted the Cabinet list and governing programme to the Romanian Parliament on 21 June, and parliamentary leadership is expected to schedule debates and a vote on the new government.
