European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the European Union will provide over half a billion euros in additional support to the Republic of Moldova following the second EU–Moldova Summit in Brussels.

She said the EU will disburse an extra €503 million under the €1.9 billion Growth Plan if Moldova completes the required reforms by the end of the year.

The EU will also allocate €120 million to strengthen Moldova’s security, €11 million to counter hybrid threats, and €17 million to improve border infrastructure.

The announcement was made on 22 June during the EU–Moldova Summit in Brussels, where European leaders praised Moldova’s progress in the EU accession process.

President Maia Sandu said Moldovan authorities are continuing to work toward achieving the country’s strategic goal of joining the European Union.
