The Republic of Moldova will begin negotiations with the Kingdom of Sweden and the Republic of Kazakhstan on bilateral agreements for the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments. Parliament’s Foreign Policy Committee has approved the launch of negotiations with both countries.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the new agreements will establish a clearer legal framework for investors and strengthen economic ties between Moldova, Sweden and Kazakhstan.
Authorities say the agreements will encourage investment in priority sectors of the economy, support the creation of new jobs and facilitate access to modern technologies. They are also expected to contribute to the development of the business environment and the tourism sector.
The main objective of the agreements is to attract more foreign and domestic investment by providing legal protections for investors and creating a more favorable environment for business development.
Moldova currently has around 43 bilateral agreements on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments in force, including 20 with European Union member states.
