Ukrzaliznytsia is negotiating with the Moldovan Railway (CFM) to secure a 50% reduction in transit tariffs applied to Ukrainian goods transported through the territory of the Republic of Moldova, Rupor.md reports, citing Delo.ua and RAIL.insider.
According to the sources, discussions are taking place both between relevant authorities from the two countries and directly between the railway companies.
Valeri Tkaciov, deputy head of the Transport Technology and Commercial Operations Department at Ukrzaliznytsia, said the Ukrainian side is seeking a significant reduction in logistics costs.
“We are indeed requesting a 50% reduction in the transit tariff on the territory of the Republic of Moldova,” Tkaciov said.
The Moldovan Railway is willing to consider the request but has made the potential discount conditional on guarantees regarding the volumes of goods that Ukrainian shippers will transport through Moldova.
The negotiations also addressed the issue of locomotives needed for freight transportation. CFM representatives said the company is facing a locomotive shortage and requested support from Ukrzaliznytsia, including the use of Ukrainian locomotives for train operations on Moldovan territory.
At the same time, Ukrzaliznytsia announced that starting September 1, 2026, it will index tariffs for certain services provided by its subsidiary, the Transport Logistics Center, based on the producer price index for the second quarter of the year.
