More than 100 gas stations across Moldova currently lack certain types of fuel, according to data from the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), amid volatility on international and regional petroleum markets.

As of August 17, 75 gas stations nationwide had no diesel, while 27 had no gasoline, ANRE reported. However, the agency said the number of affected stations has decreased compared with the previous week.

“The temporary lack of diesel that may occur at individual stations belonging to certain networks does not affect the overall coverage of current needs,” ANRE said.

Authorities said petroleum product imports have exceeded average daily consumption in recent days, helping increase stocks and gradually improve the situation. Fuel operators are taking measures to address shortages and restore supplies as quickly as possible, ANRE added.

The agency noted that some stations may temporarily suspend sales of certain fuel products during the day, but they are resupplied as stocks and deliveries become available.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy said the market experienced a slight diesel shortage at the beginning of August, but the situation began to improve after Romania granted Moldova an exception for fuel exports.

“At the beginning of the month, there was a slight diesel shortage on the market, but after Romania made an exception for exports to Moldova, the situation began to improve,” the ministry said.

As a result, the number of gas stations without diesel fell by 20 between August 6 and August 17, from 95 to 75.
