Moldova’s new Economy Minister, Claudiu Nasui, has compared the country’s economy to a sick person and reforms to medicine. He made the comparison while speaking to journalists after his inauguration ceremony.
Nasui outlined his priorities, including continuing economic reforms and supporting businesses. He said he wants to make the Republic of Moldova the world’s most welcoming country for entrepreneurs.
“Moldova has an economy that is developing and could do much more if certain reforms are implemented. These reforms can sometimes be difficult and painful in the short term, but they are what makes you better in the long term, and that is what Moldova needs. It is like a person who is sick and needs to take medicine. It may be a little bitter, but it makes you better. That is exactly what Moldova needs, and that is exactly what the Tofan government will do,” Claudiu Nasui said.
Nasui Takes Office as Economy Minister
Claudiu Nasui took the oath of office as Economy Minister on Friday during a ceremony held at the Presidential Administration.
The official received Moldovan citizenship earlier this week. Several hours after the presidential decree granting him citizenship was published, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan announced Nasui’s nomination for the position of Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization.
