Moldovan authorities do not rule out the possibility of fatalities in future drone-related incidents, Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii said.

The minister stressed that such a risk exists as long as Russia continues attacking civilian targets in Ukraine.

“As long as the war continues and Russia attacks civilian targets and kills people in Ukraine, these effects can spread to other countries in the vicinity of the war,” Nosatii told journalists.

The Defense Minister said Moldovan authorities are currently negotiating with Brussels over the purchase of a system capable of detecting and destroying drones.

However, Nosatii noted that delivery of the system could take more than three years.

At the same time, Moldova could implement the MD-Alert public warning system in 2027. The system is intended to send alerts to citizens in the event of potential threats or emergencies.
