Moldova recorded a 25% increase in international tourist arrivals during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, according to the latest World Tourism Barometer published by UN Tourism.

This was the highest growth recorded in Europe during the period. Greece and Ireland each reported a 15% increase in international tourist arrivals.

Globally, international tourist arrivals rose by 0.4% in the first six months of 2026, while Europe recorded a 3% increase.

“The growth in the number of tourists shows that Moldova is becoming increasingly attractive as a tourist destination, offering visitors authentic experiences, less crowded places, and the opportunity to discover the country’s culture, cuisine, wines and landscapes,” the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization said.

The ministry added that the result confirms Moldova’s tourism potential and highlights the importance of continuing investments in infrastructure, destination promotion, and the development of new tourism products and experiences.
