An unidentified aerial object illegally entered Moldova’s airspace overnight on September 21 and was detected in several areas in the northern part of the country. For security reasons, airspace in the region was restricted for 24 minutes, while teams from the National Army were deployed to inspect the area around Tabani.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the Air Operations Service detected the unauthorized crossing at 12:17 a.m. on September 21, 2026.
The object was initially observed traveling from the direction of Tribusivca in Ukraine’s Vinnytsia region toward Hristovaia in Moldova’s Transnistrian region. It was then detected moving north toward Yampil, near the border area.
The object subsequently continued toward the city of Dondușeni. At 12:38 a.m., it was detected moving toward Briceni District. At 12:44 a.m., the object disappeared from radar near Tabani, Briceni District, according to the ministry.
As a security measure, airspace in northern Moldova was restricted for 24 minutes. National Army reconnaissance and engineering teams, together with personnel from other security structures, were deployed to the Tabani area to inspect the terrain.
The National Police said that, together with other competent authorities, it is continuing checks to establish all the circumstances of the incident and document the case.
Authorities urged citizens to remain cautious. Anyone who observes flying objects, explosions or suspicious objects that have fallen to the ground is advised not to touch them and to immediately call 112.
